Highlighting the in-game controller setup and description of buttons
This section shows the in-game controls for when you are playing STG Football! You WILL be able to customize to your liking within your in-game settings. These are the default controls and explanations into exactly what all the abilities do. Energy and Super Abilities Video Overview
The Official STG Football Game Guide!
Experience arcade-style football with multiplayer action! STG Football is a real-time and free-to-play football game that features seven players on each team, with four players on each team controlled by humans. The game provides enough football strategy and on-field elements to feel authentic, but with a modified rule set that prioritizes faster turnaround, game pace, and unique gameplay. STG Football also features a Marketplace where players can buy and sell SuperStars and Packs, adding a new dimension to the game. The game includes practice modes, quick match, and ranked play, with the ultimate goal of achieving the highest rank of "GOAT" (Greatest of all-time).
All SuperStars have EXACTLY one position, and users cannot change positions once the game begins.
Quarterback - Initiates action and handles the “snap.” He either hands the ball to the Running Back or passes the ball to a WR. He may also run with the ball.
Running Back - Lining up either behind or beside the QB, he runs, he catches, he blocks and he’ll even throw a pass occasionally.
Wide Receiver - Typically pass catchers. They start the play split out wide from the rest of the formation and run routes for the QB to throw to.
Defense:
Linebacker - Linebackers traditionally support the defensive line. Usually covers RB and Flex (Tight Ends) for passing and tackling.
Cornerback - Spends most of their time covering Wide Receivers. They also support the run and might be asked to blitz the QB.
Safety - Commonly considered the center fielder, and thus the last line of the defense. Safety should be fast and strong and prevent long yardage plays.
There are 8 positions total in STG Football: (4 on offense, and 4 on defense) Offense:
Flex - STG Football's version of Tight End, this position will be a blocker or pass catcher. Typically a bit slower but powerful.
Rusher - Related to STG Football, this position will be the player that rushes when a play is called to go after the QB. Rusher may also at times be asked to drop back into coverage for passing plays.
Field Pass is STG Footballs' take on a battle pass!
You will have two ways to participate in the Field Pass: 1. Free version which is the top row. 2. Premium version which is used with the in-game resource "Gold" to purchase. (Gold can be earned from Daily Quest and Achievements or from our store with Credit Card.) In this Field Pass, you will be able to earn things such as Packs, Positional XP, Star player cards, and Gold/silver as rewards. The Field Pass will be run in seasons which gives users a set amount of time to complete the pass. Seasons to start will range from 4 - 6 weeks. How to earn Footballs To progress through the Field Pass, you must play games and earn what's called "Footballs". You earn footballs for every win/loss in the different game modes. Leaving gets you 0 Footballs.
The rules that guide the gameplay
Game Length
The game is divided into 4 quarters at 1:15 for each quarter. Most games should not exceed 20 minutes total with play calling and timeouts factored in.
Timeouts Each team is designated 3 timeouts per half. Penalties
What penalties?!
Tie
Full OT periods. The winner is determined when there is a leader at the end of an OT period. First Downs
First downs are attained by crossing the 50-yard line, only once per possession. If you start your drive on the opponent's side of the 50-yard line, no first down is attainable.
4th Down
During a 4th down you can either Punt the ball 40yds, kick a Field Goal, or go for it. If you go for it and are past the 50-yard line, you have no chance at a first down. Touchdown is the only successful outcome. If you fail, it is a turnover at the spot of the ball. Field Goal You will be given in your playbook the option to take a field goal and obtain a guaranteed 3 points. Field Goals are only available if you are on the opponent's side of the 35-yard line.
Half-time / End of 2nd Quarter At the start of the 3rd quarter, the team who did not start the game with the ball, will be given the ball on offense. Be aware of the time at the end of the 2nd quarter as your team may not have possession at the start of the next half. Point After Attempt (PAT)
You have two options after scoring a Touchdown. You can either take the automatic point from a Field Goal, or you can attempt a 2-Point Conversion in which you will have 1 play to reach the endzone from the 10-yard line.
A Touchdown is scored when you get the football into the opponent's endzone. Next, you will choose to go for a 2-Point Conversion or take the guaranteed 1 point from a Field Goal.
Safety
Occurs when you are tackled in your own endzone or you run out the back of your endzone. Change of Possessions
The 3 ways there can be a change of possession are Fumble, Interception, and Turnover on Downs.
Touchdowns
Your new account will start with 8 SuperStars at no cost, each belonging to one of the following positions:
Every SuperStar has exactly one position they are allowed to be played in and must be matched to the same roster slot. Each roster position can only have one SuperStar equipped, and be used in-game.
Note for Epic Users: If you want to upgrade a position, you can participate in pack sales or buy your favorite SuperStars on the .
Introducing TD Challenge, an exciting side game feature designed to keep you engaged while waiting in queues or for your friends to join your party!
TD Challenge presents you with specific scenarios and tasks you with completing them. For instance, the first challenge puts you in the role of a Running Back, where the Quarterback pitches you the ball and you have to cover 5 yards to reach the endzone.
You'll have 3 attempts to complete each category of challenges. If you fail to complete all the challenges within a category, you'll need to start that category from the beginning.
With 11 unique categories that test your skills across various positions like QB, WR, and Defense, TD Challenge offers a comprehensive and challenging gameplay experience. So, go ahead, challenge yourself, and see how far you can progress!

STG Football's primary game mode is Quick Match 4v4, where a team of four players competes against another team of four players. Players can queue up solo or join with up to three friends.
For those seeking a greater challenge, Ranked mode offers a chance to compete at the highest levels and earn prizes for achieving top ranks. The ultimate goal is to attain the coveted "GOAT" (Greatest of all-time) rank by facing off against the best players.
Practice modes serve as a platform to learn the game, familiarize oneself with various positions, hone teamwork skills, and experiment with strategies, techniques, and SuperStars from one's collection. Types of practice Modes:
Practice 1 means you play as the only human with all-CPU teammates against an all-CPU opponent team.
Practice 2 means you play with another human (and otherwise-CPU teammates) against an all-CPU opponent team.
Practice 3 means you play with two other humans on your team
Practice 4 means 4 humans on your team. In both cases against an all-CPU opponent team.
You CAN queue with friends, or alone, for all these modes.
Your choices will always start with:
Run
Balanced
Pass
Once the offensive captain selects which set listed above, the offensive captain will proceed to the play selection screen. The offensive team captain will have three possible plays to run. At this point in the play selection process, the team is locked into a play and they cannot make changes. In addition, they cannot change the available plays in any way (no play flipping, etc.).
Plays within Run will have:
Running back lined up in a backfield spot
Generally, at least one more SuperStar lined up either in the backfield, at tight end, or tight slot (though this is not required)
No more than one pass target
With exactly one SuperStar “designed” to go to that target
Plays within Balanced will have:
Running back lined up in a backfield spot
Generally, no other SuperStar lined up in a typical running back location
Generally no more than one SuperStar between tight End and tight Slot
Exactly two-pass targets
With exactly two SuperStars “designed” to go to those targets (one each)
Plays within Pass will have:
No more than one running back in the backfield
Generally no more than one SuperStar between tight end and tight slot
Exactly three pass targets
With all three skill position SuperStars are “designed” to go to those targets (one each)
Timeout
The offensive captain can call a time-out on either of these screens by tapping an extra button, likely L1 or similar – provided that their team has time-outs remaining. When a time-out is called, the game clock will stop, and the time limit to call a play will reset. Further, both offense and defense will go back to the chosen set screen (and thus have a chance to change their settings or play if they already have called one)
In “kicking situations” such as 4th down or late in the half or after a TD, the offensive captain gets the fourth choice on the set selection screen which allows him to immediately “take the kick result”. These would include:
“Extra Point: Score 1 Point” (as an alternative to choosing run set, balanced, or pass set when going for a two-point conversion)
“Field Goal: Score 3 Points” (as an alternative to choosing a set for a 4th down or late-in-half play when close to the opponent’s goal line)
“Punt: 40 yards” (as an alternative to choosing a set for a 4th down or late-in-half play when not close to the opponent’s goal line
Which offensive plays are shown:
When a team enters a game, the user playbook for the team captain will be combined with special plays based on the superstars on the team and their skills, resulting in the game playbook.
Captains are changed every quarter and a new game playbook will be created for each quarter based on who’s the captain.
The game playbook will contain ordered lists of eligible plays that could show up for that team on offense during that game for each of run, balanced, and pass play set categories. These eligible plays include both regular plays and SuperStar-specific plays, which will be inserted into the ordered list in a logically non-random way.
Your choices will always start with:
Short
Medium
Long
Once the defensive captain chooses which set, he will proceed to play selection. He will see three possible plays to select. At this point, the team is locked in and cannot change the play.
With the "Short" plays selected, typically all the SuperStars will be in a tight formation near the line of scrimmage.
With the "Medium" plays selected, typically there is a mix of SuperStars in a tight formation to the line of scrimmage and down the field. They may shift into blitzes.
With the "Long" plays selected, all SuperStars are positioned further down the field to cover the deep pass and prevent the big play. They may shift into blitzes.
Time Out
The defensive captain can call a time-out on either of these screens by tapping an extra button, likely L1 or similar – provided that their team has timeouts remaining. When a time-out is called, the game clock will stop, and the time limit to call a play will reset (and perhaps be longer than normal).
Play Details
The following will all be defined within every play:
Where each SuperStar initially lines up
This includes which position each SuperStar is playing (regardless of location within the team’s formation)
Any “pre-snap motion” and related behaviors such as
Fully-defined motion (Offensive man in motion)
Logic-based motion.
ALL pre-snap motion is automatically controlled and that user controls do nothing until the ball is snapped
Standard post-snap behaviors such as:
Pass routes
Running back paths
Blocking directions
Defensive movement into zones
Pass targets for the play
Primary play restrictions if any
Allow playing to be called at most once per game/half/quarter
Allow play to appear as a potential choice at most once per game/half/quarter
Plays will be defined relative to the line of scrimmage and middle of the field. When they are used there will be translation to the actual current field position.
Field Goal and Punting
SuperStar Level Caps are tied to Rarity:
Ultra Rare level cap 60
Very Rare level cap 50
Rare level cap 40
Uncommon level cap 30
Common level cap 20
Default starters level cap 10
SuperStars unlock their 2nd skill at level 20
After unlocking their 2nd skill, SuperStars unlock extra skills every 10 levels
SuperStars gain energy every level
Higher quality SuperStars have higher stats
Calling Plays is fast and easy and requires two simple selections for both Offense and Defense:
The first selection is the Play Set, which determines the plays and formations that will be available.
The second selection is the play itself.
There are three Play Sets for Offense and three for Defense and these are the same throughout the game. The actual plays available in each group change throughout the game.
(Advanced users can influence which plays will be available by modifying a playbook before starting gameplay.)
In STG Football, each team member can only view their own team's play-calling and play information. The team captain selects the plays for their team, and in a 4v4 match, each user is designated as captain for one quarter of the game.
To emphasize on-the-field action, there is a short time limit of five seconds to choose the play set, followed by another five seconds to select the actual play. If the captain fails to select a play within the given time limit, a default-selection play is automatically chosen.
During the play-calling sequence, if the clock is running, it stops as soon as the offensive team selects their play. This allows teams to preserve the clock without using their time-outs, much like in real-life football. The clock resumes when the ball is snapped.
The chosen play determines:
The formation of the Superstars
Pass route-target locations
The “designed” routes that the Superstars can take – users are never required to follow the play as designed, however, CPU-controlled teammates will always follow things as designed.
